Job Overview:

The Fleet Electrician plays a vital role in ensuring the electrical systems aboard the fleet of tugs and barges are functional, reliable, and well-maintained.

This position involves troubleshooting electrical issues, performing planned maintenance, and traveling to fleet vessels as necessary to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with industry standards.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

1. Troubleshooting and Repairs

    • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues on fleet vessels promptly and effectively.
    • Ensure that all repairs are conducted safely and adhere to company and maritime standards.

2. Planned Maintenance

    • Carry out scheduled maintenance and inspections on electrical systems to prevent potential issues.
    • Document maintenance activities and submit detailed reports.

3. Vessel Support

    • Travel to fleet vessels to provide on-site electrical support and assistance.
    • Coordinate with vessel crews to ensure minimal disruption during repairs or maintenance.

4. Compliance and Standards

    • Ensure all electrical systems meet regulatory requirements and company standards.
    • Keep up-to-date with industry guidelines and best practices related to marine electrical systems.

5. Inventory Management

    • Maintain an inventory of electrical tools and equipment.
    • Request and coordinate procurement of supplies as needed for repairs and maintenance.

Qualification & Skills:

  • Diploma or certification in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in marine electrical systems (experience with tugs and barges is a plus).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems independently.
  • Strong understanding of planned maintenance systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and schematics.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to fleet vessels.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and team coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with maritime regulations related to electrical systems is an advantage.
