Job Overview:

The Fuel Analyst is responsible for :

  • Supporting the effective monitoring and control of fuel consumption for the fleet of tugs and barges. This role involves ensuring compliance with fuel control policies and procedures, accurate record-keeping, and timely reporting to optimize fuel usage and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Overseeing all aspects of fuel management for the tug and barge fleet. This position plays a crucial role in monitoring fuel consumption, optimizing fuel efficiency, and driving innovation to enhance operational performance. The role contributes to sustainable and cost-effective operations while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

1. Fuel Consumption Monitoring

    • Assist in tracking fuel consumption data for vessels under supervision.
    • Perform regular audits and verifications to ensure accuracy in reported fuel usage.
    • Oversee fuel consumption monitoring for the fleet, ensuring accurate data collection and reporting.
    • Analyze fuel usage trends and identify areas for optimization and cost savings.
    • Collaborate with Masters and Engineers to implement effective fuel efficiency measures.

2. Record Maintenance

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of fuel bunkering, consumption, and inventory.
    • Coordinate with vessel crews to ensure timely submission of fuel-related reports.

3. Fuel Efficiency and Innovation:

    • Assist in planning and coordination of fuel bunkering operations to minimize delays.
    • Verify fuel quantities received against orders to prevent discrepancies.
    • Develop and implement strategies to enhance fuel efficiency across the fleet.
    • Evaluate and propose innovative technologies, equipment, or operational practices to reduce fuel consumption.
    • Conduct research into alternative fuels or energy-saving solutions applicable to tug and barge operations.

4. Performance Analysis and Reporting:

    • Provide detailed and timely reports on fuel usage trends, inefficiencies, and suggestions for improvement.
    • Maintain and utilize fuel performance dashboards to track and analyze key metrics.
    • Provide regular performance reports to the Technical Support Manager, highlighting achievements, issues, and recommendations.
    • Monitor the implementation of fuel optimization strategies and measure their effectiveness.

5. Compliance and Best Practices:

    • Ensure all fuel-related activities comply with national and international environmental regulations.
    • Develop and uphold best practices for fuel handling, monitoring, and reporting.
    • Conduct regular checks and audits to verify the accuracy of fuel data and adherence to procedures.

6. Support for Fuel Bunkering Activities

    • Assist in planning and coordination of fuel bunkering operations to minimize delays.
    • Verify fuel quantities received against orders to prevent discrepancies.

Qualification & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in maritime studies, logistics, or a related field (fresh graduates are welcome to apply).
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and other relevant software.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and reporting.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teams.
  • Basic knowledge of maritime operations and fuel management is an advantage but not mandatory.
