Job Overview:
The Fleet Welder is responsible for maintaining the structural integrity of the fleet by conducting steel repairs, fabrication, and other welding-related tasks. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving issues, traveling to fleet vessels as required, and ensuring high-quality work that adheres to maritime standards and regulations.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
1. Steel Repairs and Maintenance

- Perform steel repairs on fleet vessels, ensuring structural integrity and safety.
- Address damages or wear and tear on vessel structures promptly.
2. Fabrication Work

- Design, cut, and fabricate metal structures and components as needed for the fleet.
- Work in coordination with the technical team to meet operational requirements.
3. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving

- Assess and diagnose structural issues on vessels and provide effective welding solutions.
- Collaborate with the technical team to address complex problems.
4. Planned Maintenance and Inspections

- Carry out scheduled inspections and maintenance to ensure vessel structures remain in optimal condition.
- Document all maintenance and repair activities in detailed reports.
5. On-Site Support

- Travel to fleet vessels to provide on-site welding support and repairs.
- Work closely with vessel crews to minimize operational downtime during repairs.
6. Compliance with Safety Standards

- Adhere to company safety policies and maritime regulations while performing welding tasks.
- Ensure proper use of tools and equipment to maintain safety on board.
Qualification & Skills:
- Certification in welding or a related technical field.
- Proven experience in welding, fabrication, and steel repairs (marine experience is a plus).
- Proficiency in various welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and standards in maritime environments.
- Physical fitness and willingness to travel frequently to fleet vessels.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teams.
